He Watches Everyone Closely

Psalms 11 NLT
“I trust in the Lord for protection. So why do you say to me, “Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety! The wicked are stringing their bows and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from the shadows at those whose hearts are right. The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do?”

But the Lord is in his holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth. The Lord examines both the righteous and the wicked. He hates those who love violence. For the righteous Lord loves justice. The virtuous will see his face.”

Most commentators believe David wrote this Psalm when Jonathan told David to run from his father Saul’s presence. I can see David dejected and heartbroken. He loved Jonathan so much, and the place of his home, and the people he loved as well. Now he was running for his life and trying to make since of it all. David wrote, played, and sang, that was his therapy.

David said, “The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do?” Not much we can do but trust God, listen to Him. We live in that kind of a world now. Law and order has collapsed and we are faced with atrocities everyday. We can’t run, we can’t hide, God doesn’t want that, He wants to be our Strong Tower, our Rescuer the One we run to.

Prayer:
Oh Lord, vindicate the righteous. Stand between us and the lawless, from those who impose harm with no reason or rhyme. Be our Rescuer!
