Our Refuge and Strength

Psalms 37:40 ESV
“The Lord helps them (the ones who have turned to God) and delivers them (us); He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in Him.”

This morning may feel like a Monday, it may even look like a Monday. A 2011 study showed that the average person moans for 34 minutes on Monday, compared to the other days (22 minutes).

According to Psalms 46:1-3, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah”

So, although it appears to be Monday, it does not have to feel like Monday. It can feel like another day of walking with Jesus or it could feel like a continuation of God’s blessings in our lives, just a different day. So, David offers us a promise on this Monday, God will deliver us today because we took refuge in God. We decide not to just acknowledge God, we decide to fully immerse ourselves in God.

In His deliverance, He often walks with us in the fire, the flood. (Isaiah 43:2) I know, that does not sound very encouraging, we want to get out of the fire and flood. Having God with us in those times is a much better experience of things we need to learn, and things that will help us grow in Him.

Deliverance is a lot of the time walking us through things, not just merely removing things out of our way. Today, walk with God, and see how He will save us, and deliver us, if we take our refuge in Him.

Prayer:
Lord, today I walk with You. I have no preconceived notions of what this day holds because I do not know exactly what You want me to see today, or hear, or experience. I am trusting You Lord to hold my hand through this day. This is the day that You have made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it, after all, it’s just a Monday. I love You Lord, Amen!
