The Lord is In His Holy Temple

Psalms 11:1-4a
“In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to my soul, “Flee like a bird to your mountain, for behold, the wicked bend the bow;  they have fitted their arrow to the string to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart; if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”  The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven…”

Remember verse one, “In the Lord I take refuge,” it will come in handy in just a moment. David asks a question, how can you ask me to flee like a bird, even though the enemy wants to take me out?

We typically know two reactions as humans in the presence of fear: fight, or flight. David has a choice here and I just need to tell you he”s not running. David asks another question that comes up in his mind, “if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

In our vernacular, if the very foundation of morals, value and standards have been crushed as it is today in America, what can the righteous do? That question should be simple, God to God. David said it like this, “The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven…” He is still God, he still has all the power, He is all we have and the only one that can make things right.

Prayer:
Father God, we look to you. America is not what our Founding Fathers came to this land and built. Our morals have been trampled on; the family unit is being destroyed daily by people that have no thought of who You are. Our values have been spat on and the standards that You have set have been pushed out of schools, government and corporate America. We look to You, Father God, redeem Your people, come to our rescue, we desperately need You. In Your name we stand and pray, knowing You are all we have, Amen!
