Colossians 1:18-20 ESV

“And He (Jesus) is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might be preeminent… and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven,  making peace by the blood of His cross.”

The New Testament church began with Jesus because His blood washed away all sins. When the disciples were left to carry on the work of Jesus, the gospel is what they preached. It was a new walk, a new way of life, a new beginning. It was a new lease on life for all. It wasn’t a new religion but a new way of living, not living for the law, but living under grace. No longer under condemnation but living free lives under mercy and grace.

The New Testament church was a new hope, a new way of thinking. The New Testament church began with the blood sacrifice of Jesus, and His death and resurrection. Through His sacrifice of love, He reconciled all things, once and for all, in heaven and on earth.

Prayer:
Father, every time I proclaim what Jesus did for me, I’m spreading the gospel, testifying of His love and mercy. Let my life, my testimony, lead others to have a new life and and a new hope for themselves.
