Ecclesiastical 4:9-10 ESV

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.  For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

Friendship and or companionship is important, not just for monetary gain but also for encouragement. When we can’t weather the storms by ourselves, we need someone else to hold us up, give us strength.

In this passage a need is met when having a friend or companion, one falls down, the other helps them up. Sometimes we fall down in different ways; depression, frustrations, anxieties, troubles, it’s always good to have someone we can count on to help us through.

To gain friends, we need to show ourselves friendly, we walk along side someone that we know needs strength and encouragement. When we need someone to walk with us, God will provide someone. It may not be the one we helped but God will provide someone in our hour of need.

Prayer: Father, you are always my source of strength, but sometimes we need people in our lives to give a helping hand. You are always faithful to provide those people. Father, let me be that person for someone as well, let me be their source of help and someone to show them the way back to you!
