Looking to You Lord, Trusting in You!

James 1:2,8-10 ESV
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds… Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.”

James is dealing with trials in the first part of chapter one. Verses 8-10 deal with a paradox;
Those who are poor, are rich. Those who are rich are poor.

This paradox that James writes about is to make the reader stop and think. The poor will be challenged to endure the temptations that come with having very little. The rich will be challenged with the temptations that money cannot fix.

Proverbs 30:8-9 ESV says, “Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.”

This not just a poor-rich temptation devotion, this is more about how we handle each temptation that comes our way.

Prayer:
Lord, help me with the temptations that come my way. You gave me, faith and that faith keeps me holding on to You in the storms of this life. Faith and trust in You guides me through every temptation. Trust that knows You will sustain me with what I need.
