Praying the Word Part 2

Psalms 30: 1-5 ESV
“I will exalt You, Lord, for You rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me. O Lord my God, I cried to You for help, and You restored my health. You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death. For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.”

Everyone prays a little different, some praise first, some just dive right in beginning to ask God to bless the day, provide needs, bring healing, etc. This Psalm is David’s praise for what God had done for him, good concept, especially when we should learn how to praise God during every prayer time.

David reveals specific things that God did for him, things you and I can ask for in our prayer time. Like this, “thank you Lord that You have heard my cries ‘for help, and You restored my health,’ and my tears and weeping will only be for a little while but soon joy will come.”

When we pray God’s word we know what He has promised because we have read His word thoroughly… right? We know what the Prophets, Apostles, disciples, and the righteous of the Bible have proven, how God is righteous, good, benevolent, gracious and merciful, we can trust God like they did. But we don’t pray out of our wants but out of our need and God knows exactly what we need.

Prayer:
Lord, “Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it (God’s Word) is ever with me.  I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. (Psalms 119:98-99 ESV) One of my favorite prayers that I like to pray for wisdom, knowledge and understanding!
