The Lord Who Heals

Psalms 65:5-8 ESV
“By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might;

Who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.”

When I think about the part of this Psalm that says, “…Who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples…,” I think about how God stills our hearts when we are anxious, when life seems to close in on us that it almost takes my breath away.

Lately I have received a lot of requests for prayer for physical healing and it almost feels like a violent storm has swept over us. It is like the enemy sees that something big is on the horizon. Something powerful by the hand of God and the enemy wants to bring a disturbance to distract us before it gets here.

If things are looking insurmountable to us, if we are feeling overwhelmed, if sickness has hit our homes, stand in the power of God’s might. He is coming with healing in His wings. I have to say beyond a shadow of doubt that God does want to heal us. Sometimes it happens instantaneously, and sometimes over a course of time.

We want instantaneous healing, but sometimes God chooses to do things differently at times. Why? Sometimes He is trying to teach us to trust Him more. Sometimes it is to involve other lives in our healing to give witness of God’s might and power.

Although I cannot differentiate what God is doing in the healing process in each case, I can say, hold on and let God move in His time. Of course, when I pray, I’m desperately asking and thanking God for healing immediately, but I leave the results up to him.

As I was praying for healing for so many today, I began to sing the old chorus, “I am the God that health thee, I am the Lord your Healer, I sent My word and healed your disease, I am the Lord your healer.” Then I felt that healing power flowing. So, if you are in a storm of your life, hold on, God is moving, God has heard, and the answer is on the way. Just begin to thank Him for the results.

Prayer:
Father, so many need You this hour, so many are asking, so many are thanking You and so many are trusting in Your healing power. Quiet their storms, heal the pains and the sicknesses, heal our diseases. In Your name Jehovah Rapha (The Lord who heals), Amen!
