Heal Me

Jeremiah 17:14 TLB
“Lord, You alone can heal me, You alone can save, and my praises are for You alone.”

Jeremiah was a sensitive man who wore his heart on his sleeve. Jeremiah was divinely called to denounce Israel’s sinfulness and idolatry and proclaim severe judgement upon them. They had gone astray and had willingly become entrenched in the practices and perversions of their pagan neighbors.

Jeremiah was called to preach a tough message. He was scorned by the leaders and rejected by the people. He knew the terrible consequences of their sin would reach completion with the destruction of Jerusalem and their captivity in Babylon.

Having prophesied to the people the exact words from God, his words fell on death ears, as it does in most people’s lives when they are out of the will of God. In frustration of his own life, laden down with the burden of trying to prophesy to a stiff-necked people, Jeremiah cries out to God, “Lord, You alone can heal me, You alone can save, and my praises are for You alone.”

Face it, we all need to be healed in one form or another, in our bodies, in our minds, in our hearts, and in our spirits. God alone can heal us. We all need to be saved from something, every day. Not just one day in history when we gave our hearts to God,. Every day is a challenge, every day we need to be rescued, every day we need a Savior. God alone can save.

Acknowledging that God alone can heal and save is the first step. Telling Him that our hope only lies in Him is the next step. And beginning to praise God and thank Him for the healing and His redeeming power is where we will stay.

We do not need to beg God, we ask Him for the healing, we ask Him to save us from the situations that we are in. Then we spend time thanking Him that He is performing the work. We may not see it yet, but it is on the way.

Prayer:
Lord, there are so many that need healing today. Send healing to those who need healing. Lord, there are so many that will need to be rescued today, rescue them. Thank you, Lord, that you have heard and are responding to each and every need, we praise you that the healing, the salvation, the answer is on the way. In Your name Lord, Amen!
