Memorial Day

Psalms 82:3-4 ESV
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.  Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

This verse reminds me of the brave men and women who have served our country to keep us free. The men and women who have served in the United States military are selfless and honorable.

From World War 1, World War 2, Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War or Desert Storm, Iraq War, Afghanistan War, our men and women, and in some cases boys, who misrepresented their age in order to serve before their age of eligibility wanted to serve their country and they served proudly, even to the point of losing their lives to buy us freedom.

We have lost 600,000+ soldiers in these wars. Men and women who wanted to keep us in a free country. I thank God for every service man and woman that served and thank them for their sacrifices and service.

Almost 500,000 soldiers came home wounded and those wounds are reminders everyday of the price that they paid. God bless the soldiers that are suffering through the pains. God bless the families who have also suffered through the losses and the pains of the wounded.

Not every wound is visible, but the scars and the pains and the memories are still very real. God bless all who have served this country well, we stand and salute you and we bow on our knees and pray for your peace in body, soul and spirit and thank you for your service. We will never forget!

Prayer:
Father, today the pain of loss grips millions of Americans that lost a loved one in the fight for freedom. Only You can heal Father, only You can bring the peace that passes all understanding. Father, for every man and woman that has served, give them peace from the Comforter, Your Holy Spirit. Let them know that we love them and appreciate each and every one of them.
