Born From Above

John 3:3 ESV
“Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he (or she) cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Another way to say this; “To be completely honest, unless one is born from above, he or she cannot see the spiritual blessings and benefits of the kingdom here on earth in their lives right now, nor will they see the physical heavenly kingdom of God when we go to meet Him face to face.”

This concept of rebirth is critical for understanding the gospel. Children inherit the attributes of their parents; in this case we are created in the image of God, but a change has to happen on the inside to truly be His children. This also implies the associations of change, and pain, involved in childbirth.

The change is mostly on the part of the child, but the pain is mostly on the part of the parent. In this case, the pain suffered by God, in the form of Jesus on a cross, produces rebirth and change in those who turn to Him for salvation.

John 6:44 ESV says, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.”  God has drawn us, and we accepted Jesus Christ in our hearts forever. But this drawing from God is to bring us into a divine fellowship, and relationship with Himself.

In this divine relationship of being born from above we gain, a child/parent relationship with God and an acute insight into the vast greatness of God. Seeing and experiencing the kingdom benefits now, here on earth is so wonderful, so beautiful we cannot hardly explain to others how we feel when we are in His presence, experiencing His greatness.

Prayer: Father, I know everyone that is reading this devotion is born from above. What I want for them is an awareness of Your presence. To have such an awe of Your greatness, and an overwhelming refreshing knowing that they belong to You. Do not let this stop with our own revelation, help us all share with others the greatness of what it means to be children of God. In Your name Father, Amen!
