Friends

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 TLB
“Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better.  If one falls, the other pulls him up; but if a man falls when he is alone, he’s in trouble.”

Friends come into our lives for a reason. At an early age they were the ones who helped us identify with the world. Our parents molded us for the family unit and guided us to establish our personality. But when we stepped into the world, the friends we amassed were the ones who helped us frame the world, and fit into the world as we knew it.

Choosing good friends, trustworthy friends was often challenging, but as we grew older, we understood the value of true friendship. In the Christian community, we gained a lot of our friends from the church setting. We learned the value of true Christian friends. They helped us, loved us and nutured us as hopefully we did the same with them.

Proverbs 17:17 says “a (true) friend loves at all times. Whether we go to the same church or not, those kind of friendships should never end. They should be life long friends if they were true friends.

Verse 10 of our passage today says, “If one falls, the other pulls him up; but if a man falls when he is alone, he’s in trouble.” True friends will build us up, communicate with us, and show that they love and care for us.

In these troubled times, reach out to some true friends. Let them build you up and you can return the blessing.

Prayer:
Thank you Lord for the friends that You have placed in my pathway through life. Some friends have helped and healed, some have blessed and strengthened me. Some have prayed tireless hours for me. For all these friends I am eternally grateful!

Bless them all, keep them in Your tender care, let them feel Your love and my love. Strengthen them and empower them. Help them to never stop making friends. In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
