Psalms 78: 13-15,17-18 ESV

“He (God) divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap. 14 In the daytime he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a fiery light. 15 He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.  17 Yet they sinned still more against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert. 18 They tested God in their heart.”

The Israelites in the desert were doubters, rebellious, and self-serving. God did some amazing things for the Israelites in the 40 years after the exile from Egypt. After each miracle, they just forgot about what God had done for them. Even the people of Jericho had more sense and the fear of God than the rebellious Israelites had.

In Jericho,, Rehab told the two spies, that spied out Jericho before its fall, that when the people of Jericho heard about God dividing the Red Sea and the Israelites walked across on dry land that the people of Jericho’s hearts melted with fear.

Sometimes, I think we are no better than the Israelites who were in the desert. God provides, He blesses and then we forget what He has done for us. Remember the big blessings, remember the small blessings and give God praise. Never forget His grace, never forget how He has guided us with His love and mercy.

Prayer:

Father, I thank You everyday for Your love, mercy and grace because they are so amazing. Never let me be lackadaisical. Never let me forget all Your benefits.
