He That Stills the Heart of Mankind

Zephaniah 3:17 ESV
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.”

We seem to see salvation as a one-time experience, but don’t we need to be saved in one form or fashion every day? Either from sins or just from life happenstances. We get into a situation at work, we need someone to save us. We are met with a problem at home, don’t we need someone to step in and save us?

In every situation God is right there, He can take care of it. Sometimes the things we are faced with, God removes, sometimes He uses those things to change our course of actions.

Right in the middle of this passage Zephania says, “He will quiet you by His love.” I’ve been there, no more judgement for my wrong doings, I sit in quiet, reflecting my actions. I seek God’s forgiveness, and now I just sit in His presence where there is peace and contentment.

The presence of God is not always activity, much of the time it is peace and contentment. To know the one true God, is to know there are times to be still in His presence. He says in Psalms 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God…”

To think that the Father rejoices over us, we have no idea what that looks like, except for the last statement of this verse of scripture; “He will exult over you with loud singing,” we can all imagine that I hope.

Prayer:
Lord God, thank You for the times of exuberance and triumph. Thank You for the times of peace and serenity. I praise Your wonderful name Lord God Almighty, Amen!
