Truthful With Ourselves

Psalms 51:6-7 ESV
“Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.”

In Psalms 51, David was confessing his sins to God and asking for forgiveness of his sin with Bathsheba, and the death of her husband. But he makes a key point in his confession that we all can learn from. We have to be truthful with ourselves, and we have to be truthful with God.

Often times, we hold things in our mind that we feel seperate us from God. But most of the time these thoughts are things that we have not forgiven ourselves for, even though God forgave us long ago. If we need forgiveness from God, ask Him, and then do not ask Him again, it is under the blood.

We seem to hold ourselves to a higher degree. We remember things that we did years ago that God forgave us of years ago, but we cannot forget them. Those sins are under the blood, leave them there. Don’t bring them up in our minds, don’t keep asking forgiveness for them, and stop reliving those past offenses.

If we bring them up in our mind cast them down in the name of Jesus. If we say we cannot forget them, then at least do not let them control us for the rest of our lives. They are under the blood.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Redeemer of my heart, I “Casting down arguments (of our minds) and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…”
(2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV) In Your name my Redeemer I ask, Amen!
