The Lord gives Success

Genesis 29:2-3 ESV
“The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did…”

The LORD was with Joseph and his ordeal was probably worse than any of us have gone through, yet, God did not abandon him. If God allowed Joseph to be a slave, then he would be successful, even as a slave.

We often complain to God when we are in a terrible or difficult place. God’s will is that we trust Him to bless us and make us successful (as He measures success) wherever we are, whatever the situation.

Even at this early point in Joseph’s story, he had no control over his circumstances, but God overruled the evil of man to accomplish His eternal purpose through Joseph. God was in control when it appeared everything was out of control in Joseph’s life.

Joseph’s brother put him in peril and in a situation where his life would be ruled by others. Still Joseph was free in Spirit. His brothers appeared free and went about their lives as usual. They bore the burden of guilt and shame for their actions, unfortunately all their lives.

We cannot control other people’s actions but we can remain positive in negative situations. Knowing God is in control, and if we live in Jesus, He will live through us and bring us favor with God and man.

Prayer:
Lord, I will trust You, I will reflect You, I will allow You to live Your life through me, no matter the circumstances.
