2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV
“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…”

I learned this scripture when I was twenty years old at a Jesus Festival in Orlando FL. I memorized this scripture immediately. Why you ask? Because my mind was a mine field of good and bad thoughts in my twenties, they were normal thoughts for most twenty year olds but I wanted better control of my thought process.

As things came to me, and I believed that certain thoughts were destructive to my character, I would cast them down and bring every thought to the obedience of Christ. As adult Christians, our thoughts are more like overwhelming thoughts, thoughts about relationships, finaces, jobs or careers.

As Paul was writing this discourse about the Spiritual fight that we fight every day. Paul knew that this battle is real and it’s not of the flesh but it is a spiritual battle and that battle attacks our minds.

Satan knows that if he can throw enough trouble in our way, it will keep keep us on the wrong track and away from our mission for God. Cast down stray destructive thoughts that do nothing but cause division, worry, anxiety, strife and sin.

Prayer:
Father, I cast down imaginations that are not in Your perfect will. I bring all my thoughts into obedience to Christ my Savior!
