Open Our Eyes and Hearts Lord

Deuteronomy 8:2 ESV
“And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that He might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.”

Israel brought their pain and suffering on themselves. All God ever wanted was for them to love Him, trust Him, believe in Him, and allow Him to be their all in all. He gave them every opportunity to succeed, He took huge spans of land and kept it for them. It was a beautiful country that had everything they needed.

On the way out of slavery to the promised land, God provided miracle after miracle to show them His power, but they rejected Him. Moses said that God was, testing their hearts to see if they were willing to obey His commandments. His commandments are not grievous, they are common sense and they are rewarding if they were obeyed.

Thank God we live under grace, but we still choose to obey His commands as a tribute of our love for Him. When we are going through things in our life that are tough, do we stop and ask, what are You doing Lord, what are you trying to show me? Israel could have done that but they never got their mind and eyes off of their circumstances.

Prayer:
Lord, when things are not going right in our lives, teach us to stop and ask what You are doing. Ask what You are trying to show us, ask what we need to do to line up with Your will and Your plan In Your name Lord, Amen!
